Get your hands on these beautiful custom wood handles fit to the Spyderco Smock. These scales are offered in and Oil Finish and a UV cured high gloss finish.
The oil finish has a satin look to it and it must be cared for like any oiled wood. You must condition it periodically with an oil of your choice, I use lemon oil as the base oil due to it’s properties which help the oil penetrate the wood fully and clean it as well. You will also have to be careful to not expose the scales to extremely humid or dry climate as the wood may swell or shrink and crack.
The benefit of the UV finish is that you do not have to maintenance the wood at all. It is completely sealed and has water resistant properties. It is also a more protective coating than the oil. I always recommend the UV finish if you’re knife is a working knife.
